Main Responsibilities:

  • In-house lawyer responsible for advising management and the commercial team on legal issues and risks arising from the Group’s activities.
  • Responsible for drafting, negotiating and advising on international commercial contracts (particularly in relation to: (i) the acquisition of data rights acquisition from foreign governing bodies and leagues; and (ii) the supply of data to the betting and media industries), utilising junior team members where appropriate.
  • Providing legal advice on and assisting with M&A and other Group corporate transactions.
  • Advising on Group corporate governance and compliance issues.
  • Curating and managing the Group’s legal precedents and policies through continuous improvement.
  • Assisting with the supervision of the activities of the team’s junior lawyers/paralegals.
  • Assisting with the management of relationships with external legal advisers.
  • Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of the regulatory environment in which the Group operates.
  • Assisting with regulatory licence processes while the Group builds out a dedicated regulatory compliance function.
  • Such other activities as agreed by you and the Head of Legal UK/EMEA and/or the Group General Counsel following the start of your employment.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Strong academic background
  • Qualified to practice law in England and/or commonwealth jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ post-qualification experience at a recognised law firm and/or in-house role
  • In-house experience required (preferably in sports, media, gaming, and/or technology industry)
  • Experience working on corporate and M&A transactions
  • Ability to advise senior executives directly and work largely unsupervised
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise tight competing deadlines
  • Fluency in English required and additional languages advantageous

Experience: PQE: 5+ years

Salary: £95,000 - £100,000 (depending on experience)
